Jay Cutler and the insert explicative here Bears dropped to 4-5 this past week and Cutler now has 17 picks to his 14 TDs and a 76 QB rating on the season. That was his 4^th multi interception game this season. Frank Gore ran all over the place for 104 YDS with a TD while Chicago managed just 43 rushing yards. Let me “quote” Chicago coach Smith on what he will be saying for what looks to be quite a while, “Rex Jay is our quarterback.”

Seeing Vince Young win 2 Rose Bowls and one National Championship in college was such a treat. And while his NFL careers has been such a roller coaster the past 3 years it’s nice to see him back on the field. For the past three 3 weeks Young has been exceptionally efficient. He has completed roughly 71% of his passes, has 2 TD’s 1 INT, and has 73 rushing yards. Oh and the Titans are 3-0 in those weeks. Now 2-9 Vanderbilt ceases to be the best football team in Nashville.

The NFC picture remains somewhat unchanged with wins by Arizona, New Orleans and Minnesota. All three of these teams hold decent leads over the 2^nd place team in their division; San Fran, Atlanta, and Green Bay respectively, and it looks like they will all hold their first place position through week 17. With Dallas and Philadelphia both losing the Cowboys remain ahead of the Eagles by 1 game and their week 17 January 3^rd matchup in Dallas could potentially be the game to determine the division. Look for the 6^th seed in the NFC to have 9 wins and be significantly less dangerous that teams 7 and 8 in the AFC who miss the playoffs.

By virtue of the 4-5 Dolphins and Jets and the 5-4 Jaguars it’s pretty much a lock at this point for New England and Indy to win their divisions. Yet there are still two great races in the AFC. With Cincinnati riding a 3 game win streak, and coming off a huge win against Pittsburg, they are looking to quickly improve to 10-2 in the next 3 weeks as they will play against the Raiders, Browns, and Lions. Combined record…4-23.  Combined point differential…over -380. The AFC West is looking to have an exciting 2^nd half starting with Denver and San Diego squaring off this Sunday for 1^st place and control of the division. If Denver wins they will be 7-3 with remaining games against KC (Twice) and Oakland which should ensure a 10+ win season and a trip to the NFL Playoffs. If the Chargers win and move to 7-3 they will be in great shape as well with remaining games against KC, Cleveland, Tennessee, and Washington. Either way the AFC West matchup between Denver and San Diego is by far the game of the week.

Former college teammates at Auburn Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown look like they’re off to Australia on an all expenses paid vacation…all paid by Williams. Because Miami beat Tampa Bay this past week, Williams lost their interesting wager on who would have to pay for the offseason trip they are planning together. Because it’s just downright pathetic I just felt a need to inform everyone about the following… In Kansas City’s 16-10 win over Oakland the Chief’s RB Jamaal Charles scored the team’s first rushing touchdown of the season. Only took 34 quarters…nice. JaMarcus Russell was pulled from the game for a 2^nd straight week after going 8-23 with 64 YDS. Look for Raiders coach Tom Cable to let owner Al Davis pick the QB for their next game. WR Darrius Heyward-Bey has 6 catches for 96 yards on the season….no TD…23.5 million guaranteed over his 5 year contract. TE Zach Miller leads the team in catches with 29, leads the teams in receiving yards with 430, and is tied for the team lead receiving TD with 1. Oh he is ranked #15 among the league Tight Ends. WOW.
